Clare Helen is an acoustic singer songwriter who combines intricate fretwork and honeyed vocals to tell tear-stained tales of 21st-century life. Originally from a small town called Carleton just a few miles from Blackpool in Lancashire, Clare Helen first picked up the guitar at the age of 17 whilst sat round a campfire at Leeds festival, and hasn’t put it down since. After moving to Glasgow and going through a stressfull time Clare discovered an outlet for her creativity and started writing songs. Her original work stems from such influences as Joni Mitchell, Melanie Safka, Tracy Chapman, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash.
After only performing on stage for just over a year and a half Clare Helen has made astounding progress. She has air time on local radio stations around the North West, has had her own music video made and played countless amounts of gigs including small acoustic festivals. In August last year Clare began to feel restless and decided to move to London. However after spending six months there where she was a featured artist at the infamous 12 Bar, Boogaloo Bar and Spice of Life amongst other venues, she has now returned to the North West to make her mark on the Manchester music scene.
Clare made it through to the regional semi finals of UK Live and Unsigned and has this year has written extensive amounts of new material which is in the process of being recorded. She will also be appearing on the acoustic stage at this years Kendal Calling festival in Penrith. Along with such headline acts as The Zutons, The Streets, Ash and Idlewild Clare Helen is set to turn heads this summer.
