About Me

It’s been more than 10 years since Snooze first got on a stage in their hometown Aracaju, singing in English under the hot sun of Sergipe, the smallest state in Brazil, located nearly 4 hours away from Salvador, Bahia. The group was formed back in 1993, and from their very first recording (a demo-tape with 7 songs) it became a reference of rock ’n’ roll made in Sergipe and one of the few “indie-rock” groups from that decade that kept on rocking, recording, and producing their own gigs (and, no, they didn’t start writing their lyrics in Portuguese, thus remaining in the underground). By 2004, the band was celebrating a decade of music, while in the studio, recording their third self-titled CD, released two years later by Monstro Discos (Goiânia/ Goiás) and Solaris Discos (Natal/ Rio Grande do Norte), two independent labels that pretty much represent the kind of attitude Snooze maintained during all this time: forces out of the big centers (usually Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro) that on their own built up a chapter on Brazil’s alternative scenario. Both labels are also promoters, and their members musicians themselves, whose influence determined pretty much of what rock ’n’ roll is all about in their cities, just like Snooze did in Aracaju, calling everybody’s attention to the fact that if nobody calls you out to play, the “do-it-yourself” is the only way. For 2007, brothers Fabio Snoozer (bass and vocals) and Rafael Jr. (drums) are reunited after 3 years of absence of Fabio (although he did record the last album). Both idealized this band, and are already managing another line-up review, with guitarist (among other talents) Duardo Costa and Luiz Oliva.Download a couple of new songs: http://www.snooze.com.br Listen to some of our old stuff here: http://www.tramavirtual.com.br/snooze
