Sunrise Before Dawn

About Me

The story of Sunrise Before Dawn began in 2002, with a band named Alight, based in Boston, MA. With the unconventional instrumentation of piano, cello, and vocals, Alight started by playing coffee-house covers of jazz and rock songs in a style that reflected their classical music training.
In 2005, Tracey, the primary force behind Alight, relocated to New Jersey. With the blessing of her former bandmates, she reinvented Alight as a solo project, renamed Sunrise Before Dawn. Tracey also began writing original material, with a similar rock-meets-classical style as Alight's earlier covers. While still recording as Alight, the band contributed a cover of the New Order song "Guilty Partner" to the tribute album, "Revolving World: A Tribute to New Order" released by Popswirl of Lyon, France.
In 2006, Sunrise Before Dawn contributed a cover of the New Order song "Ruined in a Day" to the album Community 2: A NewOrderOnline Tribute. This album release featured a bonus sampler disc containing original material from the contributing artists, including the Sunrise Before Dawn song "Commonwealth" (originally recorded as Alight, and remixed by C Bentley).
Tracey has also collaborated with electronic band Razed In A New Division of Agony to provide vocals for a cover of Valerie Dore's "Get Closer," and has performed live with ambient noise artist Noir Magnetik.
Sunrise Before Dawn recently released the Piano Music for Cynical Romantics EP and preparing to play live dates in the northeast US.
