My main love is music but I also have many other loves. Such as football...watching, playing, pro evo.....and aything Liverpool FC. Ban fan of the auld rugger and I like to cheer on the Ulster boys every Friday at Ravenhill....Come on Ulster. Love going to the bar with my mates and sitting down to a well poured pint of Guinness....ummm. Suppose the Limelight and Auntie Annies are the places for me at the weekend...Limelight for some mad dancing to old school classics whilst Aunnies gives that weird and wonderful alternative indie lick.
Suppose I'd like to meet some people who are into the same kind of thing as me. I like chilling out in someone's house....few people, some good music, few drinks, wee bit of smoke and everyone in good form for a bit of craic. Also anyone who likes going to gigs and checking out some good new music. Where the beer is flowing the people will come.
Where do I start? I like lots of different bands....from indie rock to dance to lo-fi and heay metal. It all started from that WWF single back in the early 90's, who would have thought that Macho Man Randy Savage could single...him and Brett Hart were wrestlers, not professional singers. I played the tape so many times I got hooked, then came Bryan Adams with 'Everything I do, I do It For You', what a beautiful song. I think the tape wore out with so many plays....anyway, that was all in the past.
I am now loving music as much as I did back when I was a nipper. I can never remember all the bands I want to mention when I get to the computer so Ill try my best. Currently listening to We Are Scientists, Architecture In Helsinki, Sigur Ros, Bloc Party, Joy Division, New Order, Freezepop, Interpol, Editors and some old school dance.
Belfast is finally blooming for live music and I have thankfully got to see some great bands in the past year. Recently saw Ian Brown, Bloc Party, Architecture in Helsinki, Interpol, Colplay, Editors and even got crazy in Oxegen....and saw some bands too. Seeing the excellent New Order on stage was a highlight, the last remaining element of Joy Dvision, along with some Snoop Dogg for comedy factor alone. Saw Death From Above 1979, Prodigy, LCD Soundsystem, The Streets, Maximo Park, Razorlight and more. Anyway, madness it was.
But you have got to think of the old school when it comes to music. Look to the past to influence the future. I love listening to the legendary Pink Floyd for those wopped out nights or those long walks into and around the city. ot to mention the drug infused madness that is Sgt Peppers, what an album. In fact most of the Beatles stuff is great. Love Frank Zappa, but more for his contribution to Crusing With Rueben and the Jets, by the Mothers of Invention. Its 50's style teen rock is just great. Also fan of The Doors and Black Sabbath.
Even since I gave up my important role as General Assisant in the cinema, I have not been to see too many films. I prefer these days to head to the QFT for some weird and wonderful cinematic pieces.
I recently picked up Clerks in the HMV sale, which is a fantastic movie. In fact I am a big fan of all Kevin Smith's work....except Jersey Girl as I hear it is rubbish. Hackers is another film I am a big fan of....Angelina Jolie is strangely attractive, the whole set up is beautifully futuristic with a great soundtrack and with my computer knowledge I sadly know the computer terms used throughout.
Ill create a larger list when I head up to my room to look through my dvd's. My memory of films is faitly blank at the moment.
Alan Partridge (aha), Carnivale, Match of the Day, Simpsons, Family Guy, Peep Show, Nathan Barley....
Not a huge reading fan...I am too lazy and lose my attention very easily. But of the books I have read I thoroughly enjoyed them.
1984 by George Orwell, Coma by Alex Garland, The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, Want to Play? by PJ Tracy and Touching From a Distance by Deborah Curtis.
My family...as they have given me nothing but endless support throughout my life.
My friends...for everything.
Steven Gerrard...as he is the heart and soul of Liverpool.
Ian Curtis...for his troubled mind and wonderful music.
