As a young man, I have decided that life is really too short to wake up in the morning with regrets...so I will continue to embrace and respect the people who treat me right, and forget about the ones who don't...I believe whether it be good or bad, everything happens for a reason...
My full name is Jon Charles Gorton Jr. I am originally form Orange County. I live with my mom and dad, and my 11 year old sister. My little sis is my best friend and my biggest fan. She means the absolute world to me! My family has been the stongest influence in my life, They have given so much and dedicated themselves to help me become a successful and well rounded individual.
As a freshman in High School, I began wrestling at the Varsity level. With hard work and dedication, I attained a spot in the Southern Section C.I.F Tournament. I was proud to be a Sunkist League Champion by my Junior year of High School. As a Senior, I wrestled to my full potential and made it through CIF. I have enjoyed my time as a Team Captain while mentoring other wrestlers.
After wrestling season, I always keep active and continue wrestling in freestyle and Greco tournaments throughout summer months.
In 2006, I took an intrest in training in Mixed Martial Arts. I began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with BJJ Black Belt Pedro Carvalho, in Rancho Cucamonga,Ca. In summer of 2007, I began training at "WRESTLEWORKS MMA" with Robert Dowell, a 5th Degree Black Belt in Hap Do Sool, a professional MMA Fighter and an accomplished kickboxer, in Redlands, Ca. I also spent time training with Martin Walker at "TRAINING GROUND MMA" in Redlands.
Currently, I am training at "TEAM QUEST" in Murrieta Ca. My training schedule consists of Kickboxing, Grappling, Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Full Combat/Open Mat training. I am grateful to Heath Sims, the owner of Team Quest, for giving me the opportunity to step on the mat and train as an amateur along-side the Pro-Team. I respect the "team" and appreciate all of their wisdom and experiences that they take the time to share with me.
I have done personal training with Gabe Ruediger, Krzysztof Soszynski and Casey Parlett. I alternate between cardio and lifting weights every other day. My diet consists of high protien and low carb. My training regimen is 4-6 nights a week.
I have been fortunate enough to have accomplished so much success at such a young age. I attribute these accomplishments to my discipline and dedication to the sport of MMA. I plan to work hard and further my career in MMA fighting at the professional level.
