About Me

GOOD INFECTION is a solo experimental project of Andrei Petrov, the brain-master and guitarist behind the instrumental psychedelic-rock band GDEVA, and participant of the avant-experimental act CYCLOFILLYDEA from St. Petersburg. Although some fans of dreamy and spacy guitar-driven rock might be confused by Andrei’s musical departure, the lovers of experimental-ambient and martial-industrial music will be pleased. His atmospheric and restlessly disturbing soundscaping evokes the hostile and desolate response to the tradition and reality and works on its own terms as post-industrial expressionist music for the non-new-age generation of listeners.Styles: Instrumental / Experimental-Ambient / Martial-IndustrialTracks: 6Timing: 41 min.Size: 76 mbCreated by Andrei Petrov in November 2008. The artwork by the Author.“Talvisota” is a Finnish name of “The Soviet-Finnish War” (30.11.1939 - 12.03.1940) also known as “The Winter War”. Three months after the invasion of Poland by Germany that started World War II, the USSR invaded Finland with 27 divisions (630,000 men) on November 30 and reached the Mannerheim Line. The Soviets were not expecting much resistance and were poorly prepared for winter warfare (-40F) in forests. The troops attacked in regimental strength, with their dark uniforms easily visible against the white snow, so they were easily targeted by snipers and machine guns. One of the most remarkable losses in military history is the so-called “Battle of Raate-Road”: two Soviet Infantry Divisions (25,000 troops) were almost completely destroyed after marching along the forest roads by just one Finnish Division (6,000 troops); the Soviet casualties amounted to up to 23,000 men, while the Finnish lost around 800 men… The Soviets failed to take advantage of their numerical superiority at the start of the war. Finland held out until March 1940, when it signed the Moscow Peace Treaty, ceding about 9% of its pre-war territory and 20% of its industrial capacity to the Soviet Union. However, the USSR did not accomplish the primary objective of conquest of Finland: the Finns retained their sovereignty and gained considerable international goodwill. Soviet losses on the front were unbelievably high (over 131,000 killed and almost 265,000 wounded against 26,600 and 40,000 respectively from the Finnish side), and the country's international standing suffered. Also, the fighting ability of the Red Army was questioned, a factor that stimulated Germany to launch Operation Barbarossa against the USSR on 22 June, 1941 (curiously enough, while the Soviets got a good though painful lesson from the Winter War, the German Wehrmacht in many ways repeated mistakes the Red Army had made on the Karelian Isthmus).DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE RELEASE WITH ARTWORK in zip-file - http://raig.ru/AT_goodinfection.asp
