About Me
My name is Brad Burns and I am a solo performer/songwriter,
I am married to my bride of 17 years, Ann, who gave me two wonderful children; my daughter Jamie-16, and my son, Cody-14, and we reside in La Vernia, Texas. I also have two grown children from an earlier marriage; my daughter Kim-31, and son, Bradley-28.
I grew up in a very musical family, although none of us had any formal training. My dad was taught a few guitar chords while stationed in Alaska during WWII, then after the war, while stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, he met and married my mom after a six week courtship. My momma taught herself to play the organ and could sing and harmonize with anything that made a sound, so for the next 48 years, up until her passing in 1994, mom and dad would strum and sing every chance they got, in between raising us six kids.
When I was 12, I pestered dad until he got his old Stella out and taught me those six chords he had learned up in Alaska. That is the extent of my musical training. I wrote my first song when I was 17. Didn't know what I was doing then, don't know what I'm doing now! That first one was "Free & Easy Spirit", and it took about two years to get it the way I wanted it, not that it made any difference, I mean it hasn't been recorded by anyone but me, has not made me a dime, but it is the way I wanted it!
So, now at 50, I am putting my music "out there" for anyone to hear and, hopefully, even want to record themselves Please give it a listen and let me know what you think!
I also like to videotape live Texas Music singer/songwriters and help them promote their music to the world. There is so much talent in this Texas/Red Dirt genre, but, with Nashville cherrypicking only the artists that they deem "commercial", so much of it is never heard by the music buying and music loving public.
