About Me
David and Todd two small town friends, one shy and brilliant, the latter handsome and confidant discover a strange comraderie one night after years of not seeing each other. It turns out that they can automatically write songs together. As soon as Todd can play an intro into riff, David has the strange ability to deduce where his friend might go and sing instant lyrics and melody which follows Todds guitar. The guys daring to find out the extent of their powers write a song that night on the spot in front of hundreds of people at a packed jam night. That night they played a song which later would be called, "Sickened Offering." The applause rang in their ears for weeks. "Unsung", a teenagers dream was reborn by Men ready to try to make Music their living. Campbell River 1998.3 years Later David and Todd find their band pulling itself apart. Chris Marion the bass player wants to move to Nanaimo with his Fiance, David wants to move to Vancouver to play bigger shows, Rod McLeish the drummer refuses to go anywhere. And Todd has a child in Campbell River he needs to take care of. David leaves one day and 3 days later he does 5 band interviews and signs up with a new group called, "Left."David begins establishing himself as a credible and powerful performer in the Vancouver indie music scene and one day Todd shows up outside his house in his old van."Hey Dave, Man i'm outside your apartment come and see me."
"What dude, you are outside, awesome yeah I'll come down."David walks outside to find Todd his new girlfriend, and all of his possessions filling the back of his van. A day later Todd moves in next door to David and within Months they find Melanie Felix, ex drummer for Blush, and Peter bass player and friend of Melanies. Unsung is reborn 2003.Unsung starts to do a lot of shows, and stirring up a lot of interest. Called by some promotors a Vancouver Super band. David's voice is becoming something unknown before in the Vancouver scene, and Todd's melodic guitar and signature sound gets the ear of all the other songwriters in the city. But something starts to go wrong. David realizes that without a massive infusion of real money, they aren't going to be able to get any further. They need to get signed. They are too good, they need it now. And it never comes. After awhile Peter leaves, David replaces Peter with a young and enthusiastic player in Walter. But Walter's great enthusiasm isn't enough. David becomes increasingly frustrated and after being taken off the bill at a 3 day music festival before they can play David quits. He is scared. Far too talented. But people don't understand. They don't get it.This is the problem. David's voice became to pitch perfect at times. His voice began to cast spells on audiences. Freezing them into place. Not allowing them to move. Other bands played and people danced around, and head banged and had fun. But David's voice was too sensual, too tricky, too much like a snake charmer. David froze audiences, hypnotized them, and when he sang nobody moved. Frozen audiences don't drink much alcohol, or look like they are having fun. Promotors began to worry about their alcohol sales. Promotors stopped promoting the band that was amazing but stopped their revenue for an hour each time they hit the stage.Without having the opportunity to perform with the better bands, on the better nights. And without the opportunity to push a professionally recorded album. And without David's ability to wait for a better moment. David left the band, left music, and tried to leave behind the thousands of songs that grew in him every day, and every second. But after five years of retirement. The music is in David again. His friends support him, and soon he will be writing and performing again. Unsung will be reborn but under another name. Most probably, "Blood Flower."
