Formed in 2007 The band combines latin and afro-cuban rhythms with jazz melodies and improvisation.
The result is an exiting blend of music that can be both danceable and listenable. All the musicians in the band are “seasoned†musicians who produce professional and high quality performances. Their style and versatility enables them to be enjoyed at a variety of venues from a jazz club to a B-B-Q or a wedding!
Ricky Thorn, Guitar, (Founder member, Composer).
Ricky has played with many bands and musicians in his career.
In his jazz period he was able to play with leading British jazz musicians such as Don Rendel, Roy East, Don Weller, Pete Jacobsen and of course, The Charlie Hearnshaw Quartet with whom he spent 4 years. Ricky’s music career began with rock and blues and has played in many local bands including Hot Rats, and several of his own bands. Rik appears on the 2004 released Limbic System album with The Harry Fulcher quartet. He also made contributions on two albums with the “Ruralsâ€.
Jeff Walker, Bass.
Jeff started out on guitar. He was influenced by the “funk bug†after seeing the Brothers Johnson in 78. Switching to the bass he has played with a wide range of musicians and outfits including; Junior Giscombe, Mr. Hermano, Dimitri from Paris and Phil Guy. He has also been privileged to play with Mick Jagger at the Mustique Blues Festival, courtesy of the fantastic, Dana Gillespie with whom he also plays.
Dhevdhas Nair, Piano and Hammered Dulcimer.
UK based pianist and dulcimer player Dhevdhas Nair brings together elements of Indian classical music, jazz, and African music in his eclectic compositions. He began his musical career in Khartoum, Sudan with bassist Sami el-Salahi, and tours internationally as a solo artist and with African, Indian and jazz groups, and dance and theatre companies including Julian Bahula's Jabula, Steel'n'Skin, Suns of Arqa, Sankomota (from South Africa), Paris - based Ujamaa. ~ In the UK he has worked with John Etheridge, Jim Mullen, Mervyn Africa, The Limbic System, Daughters of Elvin, Tim Jones, Darryl Waye and Suns of Arqa.
Recent albums include releases by the Dreambeat Collective, Limbic System, Daughters of Elvin. Recent appearances at Glastonbury, Womad, and solo performance at Theatermuseum Festival in Dusseldorf. He studied North Indian classical music, and holds a music degree from Dartington. He writes music for film ( Mudra Mix, dir Kamini Gupta) dance (the Daksha Sheth Dance Company in South India with whom he has performed at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai) and theatre ( London Bubble).He teaches jazz piano at Wells Cathedral School.
