About Me

About Ringo Star thee Ampbass'a'door.de written by Nina de Fazio for Funkhaus Europa 2002;World Music is music which is worldly, to which one can listen everywhere, which has something for everyone. “The most beautiful thing which can happen during a set is when the people dance with their eyes open and with their temperaments influencing your set and in a way work the turntables with you.”Ringo loves this connection with the crowd. To him the work behind the turntables is a very special kind of communication. On one hand silent, only defined via the language of music – on the other the direct exchange with the audience, with people who are at home in the global music scene and try to find information about where to find one track or the other or even promote their own workA good example for how World Music can be “worldly” far more than just in matters of hearing. ..Ringo is in love with global music early. Grown up in Eastern Germany, he was still a child when he came in contact with the ethno beats which the people from Vietnam, Mozambique or Cuba brought in their suitcases. The desire to hear more of this and to be able to work as DJ made him flee Eastern Germany shortly before the wall came down and sent him on an odyssey through many countries inside and outside of Europe. Among other things he was quite active in the fields of Trance, Electro- and Nu-Jazz, Worldmusic, Lounge and Dub.One of his best experiences was in Ibiza @ Bambuddha Grove, where he worked as Resident-DJ in the summer 2004 and managed to turn a House & Techno Crowd to Dub-Reggae, Breakbeat, NU-Phunk and Balkan with Electro Beats.“DJing is a bit like cooking,” Ringo himself an enthusiastic cook, maintains: “You need a sense of timing and the right ingredients and, above all, the talent to produce the best possible dish out of nothing.” With global beats he will probably never run out of ingredients. For Ringo this is he only field which always yields something new and where new fusions appear all the time. Updates coming soon
