Our band is born in 2001 when three friends, coming from three different bands, decided to create this group. We called it “Sysmaâ€. Sysma is similar to the Italian word “sisma†meaning in English “Earthquakeâ€. We are Italian, from Ladispoli a city near Rome. What is our genre of music? We like saying we play what we feel it’s our style, we listen to different style of music: rock, punk, alternative, new wave, pop, indie, classical, we like music first of all. With the first demos we found people interested to our music in the most important label of our city but after two years without a deal we began to try a new way because they like our music but they don’t believe it was good for Italy. We send our demos in England to eight managers and after three weeks we received a letter from one of them. It was Rayner Jesson (Nick Cave’s manager for 12 years and one of the founder of the mythical Stiff records, the first punk label in London). He was enthusiastic of our music. At the first meeting he told me about his sincere willing to work with us but he told me I have to improve my English pronunciation and make other songs for an album. During this period I’ve known Kyara, a girl with a beautiful voice who began to work with me to improve my English. After hearing her voice we, together with Rayner, decided to make a duet with her in a new song “Dream of meâ€. After two years we were ready to enter in a recording studio but unfortunately Rayner died. After a period of six months we decide to continue our plans by ourselves. We recorded five of our songs at our home studio and then I went to London at the Metropolis studios (one of the best in England) to mix them with Matt Lawrence (the chief engineer of the studio, he has worked with a lot of famous musicias like U2, Garbage, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, The White Stripes, Paul McCartney, Bjork, Amy Winehouse and so on). Then we recorded other nine songs to complete our first album that we mixed in January at Metropolis again with Matt Lawrence as sound engineer. They were all mastered in the same studio by Andy Baldwin. ..
