Yu-Ray whose real name is Yuri Butler hails from the tiny island of New Providence and has been rappin since the tender age of 17. He and a few of his high school friends all of whom had dreams of stardom formed the group NSK (Non-Stop Killas) in ‘1997’;which is presently known as Non-Stop (‘2008’),where Yu-Ray maintained the alias Flava which changed in ‘2008’ upon his induction into the group GMTA (Great minds think alike) a local group from Freeport. Yu-ray who moved to Freeport in early ‘2008’ chasing another dream never gave up on his music. Now 22, he has come along way from his first song called “No way” and has truly matured as an artist. With his smooth voice and intricate play on words he makes pure magic with every beat he touches. His music stylings include a mix of everything from hip hop to blues with his remix of Duffy’s hit song “Stepping Stone” to the hip-hop ballad called “Da Dream” which lyrics were featured at the beginning of this article .With the completion of his first album “The Introduction Meet Yu-Ray”, Yu-Ray displays his hunger for the game as he continues to produce master pieces. He talks about what has inspired him as an artist in one of the songs off of his album called “Music is me” and the depths of his words are unbelievable. Yu-ray is as real as it gets. He has also gained a rep as a talented music engineer and has produced songs for many of the local artist in the “Ports” and he is presently pursuing other projects such as collaborations with artists like CLypse Dirty another local talent, to form the group PrepBoyz.Yu-Ray is Multi talented, Ambitious, and a Dreamer the perfect combination to become a star.
