IMAGINISM is art form created by the highly dedicated and self-taught artist Kyle Rehm. At the age of 17 he birthed the idea of painting to the individual imagination – an experiment he states will never be finished – and soon IMAGINISM was born, a form Kyle has been painting with exclusively for over twenty years. In order to create such an innovative art form Kyle knew that how the painting was created would also have to change. There would not be a specific vision from the beginning so a painting could evolve to allow for multiple interpretations. The same stroke would not only apply paint but also remove it – achieving a three dimensional effect which lends itself to the effectiveness. Soon the art form of IMAGINISM was a reality. IMAGINISM was created with an understanding and respect for the fact that an individual, along with their own imagination, is able to create interpretations no artist could portent, leaving a desirable unpredictability. The imagination is the most powerful tool of the human mind. It is a combination of everything we are as individual human beings, with all of our experiences, fears, hopes and dreams directing it. It becomes intrinsic in everything we do - from making a phone call to moving to a new city - as we predict the future outcomes of our decisions. Intelligence is not a factor in imagination - nor is race or culture. Every single human being has the gift of imagination - and therefore IMAGINISM is a completely universal art form. With IMAGINISM we use our imaginations to interpret the work. The artwork can be compared to a puzzle the imagination of the observer puts together, with the pieces being as individual as the observer. This is never predictable – just as we are not predictable. Nor should we be. Observers and their imaginations vary even greater than any surface differences in appearances, for inside we are all of different stuff. Each observance will therefore offer yet another personal layer to the same original piece of art. As time carries on and pieces are observed again and again, the works gain an organic life which is able to transmogrify before the observers eyes as the complexity grows. Just one observer may have infinite interpretations over time. Much like music, where one can listen to the same song in varying moods or places or stages in their lives and create a new experience, the options with IMAGINISM are also limitless - just as our imaginations are. To further enhance the individual viewing experience – no titles or descriptions are offered as a means of influence. In this way the artist not only opens up an interactive doorway but intentionally involves us in the creation process. It is with our unique interpretation that becomes us who will continually complete the work. As each generation has an upgraded imagination taking on the past and building on the future, so even works of IMAGINISM painted now will still have equal effect on the imaginations of the future, allowing the works to continue to be seen afresh with new eyes. IMAGINISM is indeed a revolutionary art form – one that opens the doors of participation to the viewer as well.
