Born in Brooklyn N.Y. in 1970 Ruben was the product of Ruben and Judith Ariola both musicians, horn players and multi instrumentalist. His father and Mother were involved in Drum & Bugle corps and little Ruben began his music training touring with the corps. and attending reharsal and shows at the age of 2. Since birth his father surrounded him with marching snares and horns and these were definitely motivating factors that would shape the interest of music in Ruben's heart. At age 7 Ruben began studying Music theory and trumpet at Dr.Trojan's School of Music studies on Staten Island N.Y. At age 13 Ruben began competing in Drum Corps in the percussion pit as well as playing horn in. At 14 Ruben was privilidged to play at the 1984 Olympic torch lighting ceremonies at the United Nations and openning ceremonies for the 1984 special Olympics. Ruben continued playing and till age 17 when he took a break from music and life led him in other directions for 13 years and after a near fatal car accident in 2000 left him with a new desire for living he found himself wanting to study drums and bought his first drum kit and started stuyding the great players and getting back some chops and technique he learned as a younger musician. Ruben is mostly a self taught drummer and with the help of some musician friends he started playing locally as well as playing gospel, gospel blues in New Jersey and was mentored by the late Ivan"Chili"Sanchez(percussionist) and (Jazz drummer)Ken Tyler. Within 2 years Ruben was doin some session work at local studios and in New York City and developing and producing young acts in the Poconos. Ruben has opened up for various artists including Celia Cruz, La India, Paul Rodriguez(comedian), The Brooklyn Bridge, Emil Stuccio, Howie Mandell(comedian), Boys II Men. Ruben is always looking to expand his craft and be a creative drummer and musician. His ability to play various styles of music and keep a tight pocket has led him to be a go to drummer for various groups and musicians in the Pocono area, New Jersey, and New York.
