Lewis King is the alter ego of Curt Weiss , who at the age of 14 took his nom de plume in the backseat of a Chevy riding through the streets of Rockaway Beach, New York. Drumming since the age of 5, Lewis has had many a name: Kingo Maverick, Kingo Awildone and King Mav D to name a few. He's like that. Lewis played with the Rockats, The Vipers, Tim Scott, Beat Rodeo, Elliott Murphy & House of Usher. He's worked with members of Holly & the Italians (Marc Sidgwick), the Patti Smith Group (Ivan Kral), the Violent Femmes (Gordon Gano), The B-52's (Pat Irwin) and the Modern Lovers (Ernie Brooks) as well as producers Richard Gottherer (Blondie, Go-Go's, Richard Hell), Thom Panunzio (John Lennon, Joan Jett), Mike Thorne (Sex Pistols, Soft Cell), Kenny Vance (Jay & the Americans), Scott Litt (REM, Nirvana) and John Jansen (Television).
Kingo believes the only place to go out is at the top and that's just what he did. At the height of his fame he retired to the serene scenery of Washington's Puget Sound. However, Maverick does get out and play now and then....usually for charity. He believes that children are the future. But, he will make an exception for one night only: May 16, 2008, Lewis King returns with the MAKE THAT MOVE Rockats (Dibbs Preston, Smutty Smiff, Barry Ryan & Danny B. Harvey) to play at the Texas Rockabilly Festival. HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF
