Vediovis Part1

About Me

You will find here the first part of the Vediovis album. The Vediovis Album has been made in 1998 and has 10 tracks in total (11 for the remaster version). It was an electronic concept album made around a created story, an old deity escaping from hell and trying to join the sky and the Light. Every song was part of the story, told an episode of the saga and tried to sound different. The plan was to make 3D demos for each tracks, telling the story, and unfortunately that never happened. The album had a nice local success in the big East of France. The track For My Angel was on several radios during weeks is the most appreciated from everybody at this stage. To be honest, it is the best song of the entire Vediovis concept. Some tracks sound old now after all this time, but some others are still interesting...
Kristof tells the escape of the hero, we can hear the sky calling for him in the middle of the song.
Mars On Phone is a style exercise, an experience using a digital phone as an instrument, maybe difficult to understand but interesting to discover the first time you will hear the replying Martian: heroes can have some nice phone experience sometime too.
Genepix1 has been used as a radio show title, and is used here as an apparté, mad after the mars experience but introducing the ode liberty coming next.
For My Angel is dedicated to the guardian angel in the story, when the hero was flying in the sky, tasting his escape from hell.
Intro D was first before Kristof, we can recognise some patterns on it, with sounds inspired by the Quake video game universe: the hero is remembering from where he escaped.
Taste Of X-Mas is an experimental style exercise made around the power of 2, with a mathematical construction, difficult to catch but interesting for the construction: 2 dogs of hell are trying to catch the fugitive; we can hear them crossing each other during the pursuit when the hero try to run away.
You will find the rest of the album , the other tracks and the end of the story in another page. The Maxi CD Plastic is available as well, as the unrealesed tracks. 6 unreleased tracks are available there .

Band Members: Vediovis is a musical concept made by the French artist Stéphane Lambert. After a strong musical training in Violin, Guitar and music theory, he was part of numerous French bands in Heavy Metal or Pop area for 1985 to 1998. Usually guitarist, he was sometime playing the bass or the drums as well. The decision to electronic came in 1998 to explore new ways and to create new things, half seriously and half in the crazy nuts way. Fast Tracker 2 was a lovely tool at this stage, with the possibility to make tracks with sometime more than 56 instruments at the same time. This auto production was published in some national computers magazines (PC TEAM, PC FUN, ...), with radio diffusions and some positive TV critics. Vediovis Part 2 (4 tracks)
. Maxi CD Plastic (5 tracks)
Unreleased (6 tracks)

Influences: The major influences were demomakers musicians, like Tryton, Maf, and the fabulous song "Access Denied". All the modules has been made with Fast Tracker 2 , a tool coming from the Amiga, when CDs were not existing and when musicians had to work with very small space and memory. Modules are made with the XM format, all instruments embedded in the track so the music will sound the same in every computer. It was also the way the Video Game industry made music when they had only floppies to distribute their games. It was a nice time when creativity was at his maximum and when you could be sure all tunes in a track were well thought and voluntarily executed.
