About Me

I grew up in a rich musical environment. As a youth I listened to all kind of music. In the Moluccan area in Tiel where I grew up, almost every household had a guitar. My uncle learned me a few chords to start playing the guitar. I remember trying to play along with the song 'Blueberry Hill' from Fats Domino. When I was 12 years old, I bought my first bassguitar an Ibanez Roadstar. Soon after that my friends started a band and ask me to play the bass. We played songs from Santana, Jeff Beck and George Benson. Later on I played with Black Magic a Moluccan R&R band. From 1995 – 2001 I played with Half past midnight (blues rock) and Curtis Knight until in 2001 Julian asked me to join his band.My influences are:The Beatles, Miles Davis, Jack Bruce, the Crusaders, the Chieftains for the melodic part. James Brown, the Meters and all the early Motown recordings for their groove.Bass players who inspired me:Willy Dixon, Chuck Rainey,George Porter JR, Felix Pappalardi, John Entwistle, Wilton Felder, Paul Chambers, Martin Turner and Herman Deinum.Gear: Fender 78 P-bass;Fender 64 Relic Jazz-bass;Blade B4;Ibanez Roadster; Gibson Thunderbird; Warwick(V) Thumb; PK(V) Jazz bass; PK(V) Fretless; London City Acoustic bassguitar.Amps: Ampeg SVT-AV ; Ampeg SVT V-Pro; Cabinets: 2x Ampeg 8x10" ; Aguilar 4x10" Combo: Nemesis 2x12;DI:Avalon U5 ; Pedal:TC Electronic Stereo Chorus; Blackstar Boost; MXR phase 90.
