I'm what some may call a "underdog". Some may say that an underdog is team or individual that is expected to lose. I'm not saying I'm an underdog because I've made it out some situation where the odds were totally against me. That is only a small part of being an underdog. I'm an underdog because I have set goals for myself that others/haters feel that are unattainable. In other words, they EXPECT me to lose/fail. Look at all the underdogs throughout history...some good...some bad...and some just straight out ruthless. Let me give you some examples, Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr, Hitler, Adam Clayton Powell, and of course...Barack Obama. Do you really think Obama would have gone down in history as a black corporate lawyer or the first black to win a political party's nomination...maybe even the presidency. So again, I'm a underdog....I have high expectations/goals for myself along with a plethora of haters that expect/want me to fail. Don't coin me as an over achiever. That's just a phrase society has bestowed on individuals to create a modern day caste system…"the haves and have- nots". Also, how can you over achieve something...that’s a oxymoron, like wireless cable. You either achieve it or you don’t. All the extra stuff is for show/fame. Some over achievers cannot deal with failure/set backs. These are the people that complain, blame, and become depressed with any little set back. Then they become under achievers because they lost their confidence. So if your are going through life bitter and wondering how the hell you got in a certain situation…blame your damn self first! After that, check who you hang out with…they may be a contributing factor on why your life is that way it is. Then my final advice would be to just be yourself. Quit trying to live up to someone else’s expectations. Learn how to deal with failure. An underdog takes a set back in stride....a set back is just a set up for a comeback. So to all the underdogs out there, remain underdogs. Wear the name like a patch of honor. Because once you’re not an underdog anymore, you’re just STATUS QUO…..”flavor of the month”….
