i grew up with a drum set in my living room if thats not destined to be in music then i don't know what is.i always knew i wanted to do music even as a little girl.so at 14 i told my dad i wanted to be a singer so we hit the local scene and i sang any where i could even at a flea market. my dad got in touch with bob woods an old family friend and the owner of del city music so from there he became my mentor.i learned a lot from him and listened to whatever he told me except for the part about learning how to play the guitar which now i'm wishing i would have listened.i got to record in a real studio once a week sing on stage with bob and meet so many people. but then that stopped bob passed away and so did all my hope. i didn't know what to do.so i went into my teenage years with alot of broken dreams.thinking i was supposed to be a star by now not working at sonic.i put it all behind me but no matter what i did there was still that yearning for it.at 21 with a baby on the way it came rushing back to me and lit a fire.so i started writing and trying to play the guitar.my first real song that i ever finished and was proud of was flowers and daisies.still to this day its my favorite.my family has so much musical history and music has always been a big part of my life.my dad played the local honky tonks since he was sixteen and so did his brothers bobby and clark.clark passed away when i was young but he stills there through old tapes and his songs that he left behind.i think thats were i get this writing blood in me between him and my grandma bonnie.at 24 with a songwriting contract,i know what i want out of life.but it took me this long to figure out that music has always been there for me i just needed to grab it.
