A traveler, writer, student, poet and explorer... Verse has walked on four continents, performed on numerous platforms and made appearances on several radio and television shows. From Berlin and Munich, Germany to London, China, Finland, Botswana, Zambia and across the United States, Verse first begin to travel the world when she received a full scholarship to United World College of the Atlantic in Wales (2004). While studying at an international school, she explored the poetry scene in London and spiraled onto the Underground poetry scene meeting the most prolific and creative artists. From there, she traveled to Duino, Italy in 2006 to accept her first win with her poem 'Elements of a Negro Street Corner'. In the same year, she traveled to South Africa to work with children with cancer in Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg for three weeks and moved onto Botswana where she appeared on Gaborone television and radio. She returned to London after graduation and briefly said goodbye only to return in 2007 to help fundraise for her trip to Zambia. As part of the 2007 FORGE team, Verse helped to raise over $3,000 in poetry cards towards women's rights and empowerment workshops for Congolese refugees in Mwange Refugee Camp (Zambia). After fundraising for travel, accommodation and project expenses she coordinated her workshops with over 110 participants. Following her two month fundraising and humanitarian efforts, she decided to take time off from Stanford University to pursue her own dreams. During her time, Verse completed her first poetry anthology, On the Road to Damascus and received her new single, Kaleidoscope, from Zambia. Taken from her new collection, Kaleidoscope explores the journey of music through abstract poetry and distinct imagery. Her other work soon to be released in 2009, explores her personal journey around the world and the stories of friends and strangers that she has encountered during her time abroad. Now set to complete her degree in International Relations, she is currently working on establishing her publishing company Stabilized Mindz, settling in the Bay Area and thinking of the next task to take over the world!

"Katrice Williams takes readers on a journey facilitated by her own poetic faith. Addressing issues such as poverty, sex work, institutionalized racism, violence in African-American communities, instances of genocide around the world and war, this collection draws on biblical referents, native american spiritual figures, and diverse histories. At once cosmic and gravely grounded, this collection reaches for universality, to find the closest thing we have to truth: love."
