PRUDENCE RECORDS

PRUDENCE was founded towards the end of 1988 in near Munich/Germany by Christoph Bühring-Uhle and Christian Stolberg. Early in 1989 PRUDENCE got into action with new releases by Cusco and Jolly Kunjappu. Since then the label has made itself a name in the world of Cosmopolitan Music with a comparably small, but very cultivated catalogue. PRUDENCE-releases are as well esteemed in the Sultanate Of Oman as in Mexico, Russia, Spain, Korea, USA or France.
In times, when the music business has to fight stagnation in many fields, Ambient and Chill-Out is still a growing market. It appeals to listeners of all age groups or social classes and it doesn't know language barriers. For a long time in media in most countries have neglected this music for a silent majority. But thanks to the worldwide success of acts such as Enigma, Vangelis or the PRUDENCE acts Cusco, Achillea, David & Steve Gordon etc. the decision makers in the radio, tv and print media more and more start to see it enormous potential.
A growing number of PRUDENCE releases transcend into the realm of World Music (Delago, Alquimia, Nasser Kilada), some have elements of heavenly voices (Jaya Lakshmi, Christina Lux, Sophia, Stella Maris) or in the artistically interesting field of the more avantgarde, electronic- and psychedelic instrumental music (Mergener, Art Of Infinity, Nautilus).

BSC Music/Prudence wurde im Oktober 1988 von den Musikern Christoph Bühring-Uhle und Christian Stolberg in München gegründet. Beide Firmengründer waren bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits über 15 Jahre aktiv in unterschiedlichen Positionen im Musikbusiness tätig und kein Bereich war ihnen unbekannt, daher war auch von Anfang an klar, dass die Produktlinie, die sie für BSC Music festlegten, rechts und links vom hart umkämpften Pop Markt liegen sollte. Bei allen Veröffentlichungen aber war oberstes Gebot, daß Ihnen und später dem Team von BSC Music die Musik gefallen mußte, so hat sich der Leitsatz geprägt: „Wir veröffentlichen nur Musik, die uns selbst gefällt“.
Man gründete für die Instrumentalmusik, das Herzstück von BSC Music, das Label „Prudence“, das inzwischen für hochwertige Ambient und Instrumentalmusik steht. Formationen wie Cusco, Gandalf, David & Steve Gordon, Ginkgo Garden, Blonker, Peter Mergener, Achillea, Bernward Koch oder auch Art Of Infinity genießen Weltruf, alleine von Cusco wurden bisher weltweit über 2 Millionen CD’s verkauft.
1989 wurde der Firmensitz nach Icking, einem kleinen Dorf im Isartal, verlegt und 1999 zog BSC Music dann an den Starnberger See nach Münsing. Für die BSC Crew war es immer schon wichtig, nah an der Natur zu leben, ohne Parkplatzprobleme und Hektik. Aus dieser Ruhe heraus entstehen dann auch die Ideen und Produktionen. Jede Veröffentlichung wird gründlich geplant und das Leitmotiv „Qualität vor Quantität“ wird seit Jahren beherzigt und umgesetzt. Der musikalische Schwerpunkt liegt bei BSC Music nach wie vor im Bereich von „Chill Out“ und „Ambient“. Dazu kommen Produktionen aus den Bereichen New Age, World Music, Trance, Smooth Jazz, elektronische Musik und auch Soundtracks.
