The Lubricators

About Me

MICHAEL FOSTER-HARMONICA AND VOCALS:"Mick the Hatchet" is the founder of the band. Though originally from the east coast, he now calls southern california his home. Drawing from the influences of both coasts, he has become a versatile, well rounded entertainer. His unique funky vocals, bold harmonica, and keen sense of humor, combine for fun anytime the Lubricators are in the house. Mick calls little Walter, Junior Wells, and Paul Butterfield among the artists that inspire his working mans style of blues.JERRY LUITHLE-BASS:“Blonde Lemon” as he was dubbed by Robert Lucas (Canned Heat, Luke and The Locomotives) for his traditional sound, is another popular veteran of the LA blues scene. Preferring old Fender amps and guitars, Jerry lays down a fat groove that makes the people get up and dance! Cutting his eyeteeth early with The Confessors, Curtis “Jack” Griffin, and the Curbfeelers, he brings experience and repertoire. Often the butt of Mick’s jokes, his sense of humor brings fun chemistry to the stage.BARRY LEVENSON-GUITAR:From the start, the Pittsburgh native has had a love affair with what he calls the most expressive and vital music form America has produced: The blues. Epiphany struck when an older harmonica-playing friend gave Levenson the album that inspired him to begin playing the guitar--Buddy Guy’s watershed LP, A MAN AND THE BLUES. “This was the first time that I heard music that was not made for commerce, trend, or any other reason other than pure expression. After one listening, I knew what I wanted to do in life. I learned that record note for note and had little interest in any music that wasn't pure...TC MARKLE-DRUMS:TC is a musician dedicated to his craft. He moved to CA over 20 years ago following a dream to be a professional musician. He has performed, toured and recorded with some of the best in that time. Included are Carey Bell (Muddy Waters), Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater, Elmore James Jr, Chick Willis, Louisina Red, Cadillac Zack, Curtis Jack Grifin, Mississippi Bo, Rusty Zinn and Alligator Stew. Influenced by Charlie Watts, Sam Lay, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Al Jackson Jr., Earl Philips, Fred Below, Frank Beard and Richard Innes, TC brings power and finesse to The Lubricators style of blues.
