About Me

The original David Young and the Restless was formed in 1984 in St. Augustine, Fl. from the remnants of our past bands The Wads and Poptones. That band was Chris Galipeau on drums, John Wolf on bass and myself playing guitar. We all sang in that band. We played all over, partied, fought, wrote songs and generally had a good time doing all of the above.Later on Jeff Marsh "The Round man" joined and Mississippi wild man Lamar Williamson. In the early nineties Timmy Hills came onboard. Throughout all of this our friend and mentor Jim DeVito, whether running sound, playing with us, or recording us at his studio was always there. Jim's Retrophonics Studio has been Ground Zero for North Florida punk since 1980.So far we have three cd's available for public consumption. In 1997 I got my act together to put together, over the course of eighteen songs and with much help from Jim, a good sampling of our music from 1981 up that time. The cd is entitled Hold it Right There!!!! and is really a good representation of what we had been up to all along. The business of rock'n'roll.Check out Chris Galipeau singing his song Rambler, pure punk rock and a classic. This song was recently featured on Car Talk AKA Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers Radio Show on N.P.R.In 2006 Chris and Jim and myself got together for our next project which would eventually become Broke Down in Middleburg. I had really wanted to work with Chris again after he had been diagnosed with cancer. During the time we recorded the cd Chris was at the top of his game on drums, really as good or bettter than ever. We had a great time doing the cd and even more glad that we took the time to do it. Chris Galipeau passed away on November 5, 2008 from the cancer. He left behind two solo cd's available on cdbaby.com just go there and search for Chris, just Chris, one word, and the two cd's are called Poor You and later he did Twang. They are classic country punk. More recently, with Jim DeVito's help, I recorded the Theme Song for the Jacksonville Rollergirls, our local roller derby team. You can hear the actual Rollergirls, that's them you hear on the track along with their cool skate sounds. This cd single is available through my website www.davidyoungandtherestless.com or you can listen to it right here right now. Also you can check out the song I wrote for This and That Hair Creations. That was for my friend Jim This who owns and operates that establishment located on Kingsley Ave. in Orange park. Stop in and see Jim for some highlights and a trim.
