Diandra (Didi) Flores was born in Rio Grande City Texas,. right along the borders of Mexico. Being that her biological father and family were all musically inclined, she developed a passion for music at an early age. Didi always found music to be a way to express herself. Entering several talent shows in school, and singing in plays and musicals’ her teachers and friends knew she had an amazing talent. Mariachi band was one of her courses in high school, which is when she learned to play the guitar. She eventually moved from the rio grande valley to Corpus Christi. She sang backgrounds for many bands and did studio work for many professional artists. Over time, Didi got anxious and wanted to fulfill her lifetime dream. She and her friends formed an all girl band ( Chicas de Canela) in which she sings lead vocals and plays the guitar. Chicas de Canela are the first female group to ever be signed to the multi-Grammy winning label Freddie Records. They released their self-titled debut album in April of 2008 in which she composed 6 songs. One year later Chicas de Canela received an endorsement from Hohner and Toca in which she received a Hohner guitar. They also have been nominated for a Latin Grammy award for best album cumbia/ vallenato.
