Hot Chicks of Substance, girls from their 20’s to their 80’s, various shapes colors and persuasions, wrote plays, comedies, even some musicals. Then a guy with an Off Broadway Theatre had a free month. And The Pillowfight Theatre Festival is born.
My name is Dana McCoy and I am the Artistic Director of said festival. I hand picked these plays, I believe in the importance of every one of them to both men and women with all my heart, soul and brain.
Many of our members have graced the Broadway stage, (Gretchen Cryer, Susan Gordon-Clark, Dorothy Bishop, Evelyn Page, Betsy Parrish,) some have toured the world music stage (Lesley Gore, Dana McCoy) and some have spent a little too much time backstage (Les Funky Bitches Fantastique!)
The subjects of these plays range from loss of a friend to cancer (Alice & Elizabeth’s One Woman Show,) to extricating one’s self from an abusive situation (Red Flags) to being an artist in a dead end job, (Cube Rat, Don’t They Know I’m A Superstar) and on.
I am so proud to have a part in bringing the world these plays and these women.

Question, what about the name?
Whenever I’ve spent an evening with women friends, like clockwork, guys want to know, so…did anything happen, I mean, did you experiment or have a pillowfight or anything?
I think this festival will help our darlings experience our pillowfights a little more closely…
The First Annual Pillowfight Theatre Festival will run Wednesdays through Sundays from June 26th to July 26th, 2008
