t" / "Christopher “C.P.” Pride was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. Most of his childhood was spent living in the Mason Court Projects. While growing up, C.P.’s passion was for basketball and used this outlet to escape the everyday trials and tribulations of growing up in a hostile environment. C.P. reached his freshman year in high school with a city-wide reputation for his outstanding athletic ability. After graduating from Butler High School and then receiving his Associates Degree from Bevill State - Sumiton Community College, his love for basketball would soon be a memory surpassed by that of another talent – music. He is a lyricist and a creative individual in the studio. He has been working on his music for nine years. There aren't many lyricists in "the game" on the same level as C.P. – period. He’s the unknown known threat to MC’s in the industry today. There is now no one in Alabama who can do what C.P. is doing in the studio. C.P. has a plan to put Alabama on his back and take it to the top. Once his voice is heard, it will be undeniable that his talent is evident, promising, and holds the potential of greatness. C.P. was the lead member of a successful group named Laponne. The group did not overcome the challenge of staying focused and concentrating on making it together as a whole. Laponne had two successful albums that sold an estimated 65,000 CD’s from out of the trunk of their car. As time passed, the group parted ways and now C.P. is riding solo. C.P. has opened for such acts as Lil Boosie, Webbie, Rick Ross, Young Buck, and a host of other talented artists. This is “the man on a mission”. He is determined and dedicated to having an impact on the vast world of hip-hop. His style and his lyrics need to be heard. With C.P’s free-style ability, he has the gift of being able to compose and hold his creation until he goes into the studio and lace hot tracks without having written it down. Much of C.P’s music comes from free-styling in the booth. He is currently involved in his second solo album Hardheaded and Plum Foolish (Laponne Entertainment) that will be dropping in July 2008. He is working closely with M-16 (the producer of Playa Circle “Duffle Bag Boy”) who has produced five tracks on C.P.s album so far. C.P. is “the diamond in the rough”. He is a product in a market that has not been touched and could be marketed in a variety of ways. His music can and does appeal to every audience ranging from the streets to the suburban listener. He is an artist who has been through the ups and downs of life and is searching for the opportunity to make his contribution to the hip-hop industry.
