Darren [Snorting & Cavorting]

I have loved guitar bands since i was about 12 but many years of hearing my brothers stereo blasting out a lot of heavy metal must have turned me over to the dark side of Electronic Dance for a couple of years?!?!? It wasn't all bad though, The Prodigy were class in their early years.

I tried to teach myself guitar several times when I was young but I had no direction back then, I do wish I had lessons when I first tried to play at 18. I had another go about 3 years ago and was picking it up well and learning some songs, then I get injured at work and I couldn't use my fret hand! I lost all interest by the time it had healed but every time I hear the songs I had learnt, it makes me mad at myself...

Now that I'm in my thirties, the I play in a band dream has all but passed by.
Never mind that now though, as I have other interests and feel I could realistically achieve something. Lately I have been all geared up by getting into the world of design, although I was very creative as a child and praised at primary school for this, I never took art and design seriously at school, or much else really, I only realised later in my life what I want to be , well sort of. About 2 years ago I started learning the basics of photoshop and that helped me make badge designs for Indie Kids, my girlfriends ebay shop, which I have virtually taken full control of now. Over the 3 years I have made various projects for myself, I remember planning, designing and making a 7" record sleeve which slid out a fanzine, I did all this because I really enjoyed myself and keeps the brain working.

Late last year I started Snorting & Cavorting , a forum for fans of the Manchester band, The Courteeners.

I never thought of where it would lead. Early on, I gave away a forum badge set that I designed and packaged with great response from the members. I have since done artwork for flyers, sleeves and released a special flyer only available in the forum.The Snorting and Cavorting forum has turned into very friendly community that welcomes new members, as long as you are a fan and not just a troublemaker...
