Bottle of Sound began way back in time, back when the Minutemen were
still haunting our old hometown of San Pedro, California.
Ken Bewick and Josh LaBelle had a band, along with Joey Burns and John
Spalding called More Love Now.
We listened to lots of Talking Heads, Neil Young, The Beatles, Black
Flag, Led Zeppelin, XTC, Elvis Costello, Minutemen, X, and of course
Dylan.
From all of that, under the Los Angeles sky, we stole ideas, hooks,
guitar riffs, recording studio preferences, and we made some records (real
LP's, ya know), tapes, and noise.
We played all over Los Angeles, opened for some of our heroes. Turned
down some offers, but made many friends. Most of all, we were the best
of friends.
That was fun, and we paved a few paths.
Joey ended up in the Arizona desert. He continues to be one of the
finest musicians we've ever worked with. His band is Calexico.
Josh ended up in Seattle, working and touring various outfits, and
eventually heading up a large theatre group in that city.
Ken strayed off to Santa Cruz, got married, and continued to write and
record with Santa Cruz band Mudfrog (see Mudfrog's space as well).
Ken and Michael hooked up in Mudfrog.
Throughout all these years, Josh and Ken continued a tight friendship,
and a musical collaboration. They briefly had a band called "Beep
Beep".
Now, Ken Josh and Michael have recorded the first album by Bottle Of
Sound. It's called "Sodapopcookbook".
You are invited to pop the cap and take a hit.
