About Me

Hailing from Los Angeles, with roots in the Midwest and abroad, Erik Negash, also known as Renasonce, is a dedicated young activist whose music can best be described as a progressive electronic/conscious lyricism hybrid. His underlying message, as exemplified both in his artistry, and his continuing work on behalf of at-risk young people in under-served communities, is that youth involvement on all levels is crucial if we are to practically implement positive change, and maintain America's tradition of excellence in innovation in the global community. His style as introspective as it is edgy, Renasonce embodies the ideal that musical artistry can be a powerful tool for the practical implementation of programs and policies that are geared toward collective empowerment through personal responsibility. Having recently performed at the Global Summit in San Francisco, he is completing the final steps for releasing an album in February which will benefit key youth-related causes. You can purchase some of his material by clicking on the widget on the left, on the tab that is labeled "downloads". It's that simple. =)I AM A PROFESSIONAL, so I don't care that much about SOUNDING or SEEMING to be professional, but in short, I've been on television, opened for Mos Def and Talib Kweli (a benefit concert for H. Rap Brown- an incarcerated Black Panther), performed on Ed McMahon's The Next Big Star (you know- Star Search!), performed spoken word and music at political events, been arrested at political events, been BRUTALIZED BY THE POLICE at political events, done work as an extra, and I've done various modeling and charity gigs. Through it all though I've managed to maintain a positive, yet balanced outlook on life and creativity, and I am always honing my craft, and mastering new ways to express this in my music while maintaining a lighthearted vibe. I am greatful that I have been able to receive real life music biznatch experience working with and/or receiving instruction and other business opportunities from big names in the music industry, among them Ahmad, Chaka Khan, John Frizzell, and Dwayne Wiggins. Real talk! Right now I'm looking to book performances in the greater L.A. area, as well as put together a few ALL PROFITS GO TO CHARITY type events and concerts...SOOOO, if you wanna get in touch with me hit me up here on myspace so we can make this shit happen! Peace! Ymadjiri Renasonce P.S. You can just call me Renasonce, but Ymadjiri is pronounced "im-add-jury"- as in describing my lyrical style, which is a menagerie of imagery (poetry). A nickname I picked up while I was still defining my freestyles and identity back in the day. Don't worry my name's probably the most complex part of me ya'll. :) Sorry for all the big word's in this paragraph too! :) lolOh yeah, IF YOU REPRESENT A CHARITY, AND YOU WANNA HELP ME DO THIS THING, OR HAVE SUGGESTIONS OR CONTACTS 4 ME, WRITE TO ME HERE IN MY INBOX, AND I'LL HOLLA BACK! Yes I know not all of my lyrics are "conscious" or "clean", but that's cause this is art, for art's sake too. At the end of the song, its still hip hop. Anyway, I appreciate everyone's support in adding me as a friend, and I look 4ward to getting 2 know everyone...Peace!
Here's the code if you'd like to help me get some exposure by creating a link on your myspace profile to my music page. :) Laters...

Sounds Like: Dangit I'm lazy! I really will get around to writing this someday. Okay, basically this is some ambient, goth technoish hip hop shit with original, unsampled lyrics and music, coupled with a smattering of street bravado and a comedic vibe to lighten the load. Its also a friggin technological thriller with phat juicy tits, and an almost non existent work ethic. Either that, or you can comment my page and tell me what YOU think it sounds like... Cheers!
