SAVAGE STREETS

About Me

SAVAGE STREETS is the ultimate 80's exploitation film, next to Class of 1984. Both of those films had a huge impact on me when I first rented them on VHS in the late 80's. At the time, I was nothing more than just a horror fan into zombies, slasher flicks, and gore. It was only when my best friend at the time and I decided to take a chance on some of the more obscure looking "action" films with the lurid box cover art that we stumbled upon an entire new and exciting world...the ultra-violent eploitation/revenge genre! We had no clue what we were in store for when we first popped the SAVAGE STREETS VHS into our VCR. The film started off like a mindless teen flick with a cheesy(but very catchy!) hard rock soundtrack and a light hearted tone...until...the character JAKE (Robery Dryer) appeared! The moment this sleazeball psychopath freaks out in rage over his convertible '57 Belair getting trashed by the Satins, I knew right then and there something BAD was going to happen in this movie! This has to be one of those most insane and ultra-violent characters in the history of exploitation cinema! This guy only cares about himself and his pathetic gang, and will hurt ANYBODY that gets in his way. What he and his gang do to Brenda's (Linda Blair) deaf and mute sister Heather (Linnea Quigley) is as downright ugly and mean-spirited as it could ever get in an 80's exploitation film. It's a hard scene to watch, but it really sets up the great revenge that comes later in the film, when Brenda dresses up in black leather and arms herself with a crossbow and bear traps! But before that happens, we also witness the scene of Brenda's friend Francine (who is pregnant and about to get married!) getting tossed off of a bridge by Jake with Jake's sleazy friend Fargo uttering the bone-chilling line "here comes the bride...and she's all drenched in red". Jake looks completely CRAZED in this scene which takes the film to an insane, over the top extreme.I'd also like to mention the scenes involving the school principal (played by John Vernon) which are totally hilarious ("Go fuck an iceberg!" "Now I'm sorry about your sister, Brenda. The police are doing everything they can. But she shouldn't have been there in the first place. [smiles] You're a tough little bitch, aren't you? I like that. But I don't give second warnings. So consider yourself suspended"). Haha! What a jerk!Linnea Quigley's scenes are short but she is definitely very memorable in the role of Heather...but this film ultimately belongs to Linda Blair all the way! Loaded with attitude, cleavage for miles, sensitivity...and rage, she totally KICKS ASS and shows why she was and still is one of the TRUE "scream queens" of B-cinema and horror/exploitation films! This movie ROCKS and has it all. Violence, sleaze, memorable characters and dialogue, nudity, outdated clothes and fashion, a hard rocking cheesy soundtrack, comedy, etc. You won't find a more entertaining 80's film than this one! I've made this fan page to hopefully get more people interested in this great film. I'm in no way the ultimate authority on this film, as I'm sure there's probably even BIGGER die-hard fans than even I am! I'm just a simple down to earth fan who really loves this movie, as it had a huge impact on me and the way I watch and collect films over the years. It was because of this movie and Class of 1984 that I was able to appreciate and love exploitation/action/revenge films as much as I loved horror and gore films! I hope you enjoy the page and the songs from the soundtrack that I've uploaded, as well as all the pictures and stills! Do whatever you can do see this movie, even if it means buying the lame New Star DVD or even a beat up copy of the classic VHS! Also don't forget to check out IMDB.COM for more info and reviews on this great film! Any fans out there please post on this page and let everybody know what you think of this underated classic, and please also spread the word about the movie and this page! Thanks! I also wanna thank my friend Adam from Screamatorium DVD for helping me with the movie stills! SAVAGE STREETS rules forever! -Billy Nocera

the following is taken from IMDB.com:

"SAVAGE STREETS - Where the only rule is "an eye for an eye."

"They raped her sister... killed her best friend. Now she must seek revenge!"

"An altercation between a group of girls out for the night and a gang of local punks leaves the punks vowing revenge. It comes in the form of the gang-rape of a young mute (Heather) and her older sister (Brenda) starts hunting the gang in turn - armed with bear traps and crossbow.

"Brenda is bad, bold and brash. But she absolutely dotes on her deaf-mute kid sister Heather. When a prank involving the trashing of a dope-dealing gang's car leads to the brutal rape of the innocent Heather by the gang, Brenda vows revenge, while fending off the romantic overtures of a dimwitted jock and the venomous remarks from his jealous girlfriend. In a riveting climax, Brenda ultimately delivers justice for her sister's stolen innocence."
