About Me
This introduction paragraph used to be all about how I hate myspace and barely use it because its so trendy and everyone on it is 'emo' and whatever, but I got over that. Its been nice keeping in touch with everyone, including some people I would have never expected to talk to, see, or hear about otherwise. Rather than hating that literally EVERYONE has a myspace, I just find it convenient now. :)
For the actual details about myself: My name's Dane. Not the most popular of names, but I've come to learn that it isn't entirely uncommon. "OH, LIKE DANE COOK, RIGHT!?? RIGHT!??? ISN't HE FUNNY!? YOU KNOW!!! DANE COOK!!!!! AM I RIGHT!????" Shut up.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, near Marine Park. When I was 12, my mom had a sudden craving for sunshine and she moved my brothers and I out to Orange County, California. I immediately lost touch with some great friends but made many more over the seven years I lived in California, some of which remain today as my best of friends. At the age of 14, I met one of those friends on an online forum and our friendship in the past 7 years has somehow lead to me moving up north to the outskirts of Seattle, Washington, although I didn't see that coming seven years ago. This place has always sounded so nice to me, with promises of cool rain and a ton of green trees, and that is most certainly what I've come to experience while living up here, along with many new, amazing friends, as well as my girlfriend Kenzi, the love of my life.
Currently, I'm rooming with the previously mentioned 'online' friend, Frank. We've been living together for almost over three years and after living in a crappy dorm and an utterly horrible apartment, we now live in an amazing Condo in Kent. A few years ago, I attempted three quarters of community college and failed the last two miserably, which managed to simultaniously put me in debt and completely destroy my dream of ever owning my own business, although I realize now that it would have been a horrible idea to open a business, so whatever. Right now, I work for an Espresso machine manufacturer called Franke Coffee Systems in South Seattle. Some perks have been unlimited free coffee, some amazing co-workers, and a fairly laid back work environment. I can pretty comfortably say its the best job I've had so far. Before my current job, I worked for a shitty image processing company that began to outsource and essentially laid me off, and before that I worked for Game Crazy for something like two years...I thought it was the shit for something like a week, and then it went downhill from there. Don't really know why I stayed for so long! Perhaps it was at least alright to work with video games. Speaking of video games, I remain to this day a pretty avid fan. I would call myself a geek, but hopefully not the greasy, stereotypical, super-nerd, number crunching, wishes he were Japanese kind of geek. Besides video games, I'm also into computers and electronics in general. Upon one day busting my computer open in curiosity, I became very interested in hardware and the inner workings of computers. Now a days, I find myself building or repairing computers for myself and my friends. Custom built PCs will always be better, cheaper, and more reliable than a Dell (or HP or Gateway or whatever the hell else).
On the subject of music, I'm very culturally retarded. I honestly live my every day life barely knowing who people like Johnny Cash and bands like Led Zeppelin are. Its such a weak subject for me. I guess I've just been kind of ignorant for most of my life and have never let a musical influence get through to me. For now, I really enjoy different types of electronic music, rock, ska, and just anything else I happen to hear and enjoy. Feel free to show or recommend any music to me! Trust me, I do want to broaden my tastes.
I don't really know what else to say. I've never been very athletic. I've grown to be very open minded. I try to be an all around good, respectful person. Now I'm just rambling. In fact, this whole thing was just a complete ramble fest, and a very poorly structured short story, but I managed to sum up who I am and what my life is currently like, which is what I intended to do! :D
