About Me

MyGen Profile Generator Hailing from Guisborough, in the North East of England, Beneath Utopia is a one man operation consisting of Ian Lipthorpe on vocals, guitars, bass, drums and keyboards, and have been writing and recording material since 1996.
Early material displayed a strong Bolt Thrower influence, but since then, the sound has evolved into what it is today - a combination of the ferocity of death metal with the grandeur of gothic metal, the hooks of trad metal, the bleakness of black metal, the groove and dynamics of nu-metal, the drive of thrash metal and the sheer warp speed of grindcore - hard-hitting brutality with a more song based approach, still heavy but with songs you can remember, rather than just a collection of riffs.
Since 96, four albums worth of material have been recorded in demo form, with only the last three being made available to the public - 96's Something to fear, Underdog from 99 and 'The World is Beautiful, just don't look down' from 2002. The first release has been re-recorded and is also now available.
New material is currently being written for the new, as yet untitled, album, with four of those new tracks represented here. Keep watching for other new tracks coming soon.
