The smooth new cigarette comes out at a time when Kool and Camel rival head to head over widened menthols. This new menthol tastes nothing like the rest, thin or wide. Marlboro Smooths taste like Andes Mints; you know, the little rectangles of mint and chocolate given at the end of a meal at the Olive Garden?I wonder how Marlboro did it. Was it fortuitous, like the old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials used to suggest? Did some candy-loving employee of Phillip Morris wander into the tobacco plant drop one of his little minty chocolates into the tobacco? More likely, an executive was munching on a chocolate mint while puffing on a regular Marlboro red and thought what a nice flavor. That sounds more fun than some scientific laboratory experiment."
