About Me

Billy Ratcliff makes impression north of the 49th parallel.
By: Lea MacDonald
One can never be sure what they will find when surfing this system of global union – the net – and to that end it was like a golden-goodie-blast-from-the-past when this columnist happened across the MySpace home of Billy Ratcliff.
Ratcliff, 25, is warmly reminiscent of Bob Dylan save for one special caveat, Billy can sing. It has often been said – mostly by Texans’ – that things are bigger and better in Texas, and nowhere could it ring truer than while listening to several Ratcliff originals.
Billy’s lyrics betray his young age leaving the listener with the distinct impression of a singer/songwriter who has experienced significant and timely life experiences. Despite Billy’s tender years, his lilting voice and insightful lyrics take the listener back to the warm and nostalgic days of Dylan, and Simon and Garfunkel.
If – as they say – all roads lead to Texas, then get on Ratcliff Road, soon to be an entertainment Super Highway.
