The purpose of the BSB Airplay Campaign is to provide fans of the Backstreet Boys a way to come together and promote BSB by getting the songs more airplay. The idea came about after a member of the Backstreet Boys Official Fan Club (JustSomeRandomChick) posted a rant about the lack of airplay for BSB songs. Other members responded to the post and the idea for the BSBAC was born.
Radio and music video station stations play a crucial role in the promotion of any musical artist and often, these stations can be solely responsible for whether a song or group takes off or fades into oblivion.
We believe that the Backstreet Boys have been, and still are victims of an elitist attitude by some stations against "Boy Bands". Instead of judging their music (especially their current album Unbreakable) based on its musical merit, they are allowing their biased perception of the group's past image to color their opinion of the music. As a result the new music is getting little to no airplay in many areas.
It is our belief that we can get more airplay for the songs off the Unbreakable album by working together and getting groups of fans to make requests, both on their own and during organized campaigns. Please see the blog entries for lists of links where requests can be made.
We believe that by working together we can accomplish our goal of more airplay for BSB which will introduce new fans and regain former fans who may have lost touch with the Backstreet Boys.
