Trees For Life is the award winning Scottish charity, no.SCO21303 and is based in Moray, Scotland.
Trees For Life's main aim is to assist the natural regeneration of the Caledonian forest which once covered 1.5 million hectares of the Scottish Highlands.
Unfortunately, due to many factors such as deforestation and years of overgrazing by sheep and deer, only 1% of this woodland now remains and many of the native animals such as the beaver, wild boar, wolf and lynx, which once lived within the forest, are now non-existent.
The vision of Trees For Life is to restore the native forests to a target area of 600 square miles in the Scottish Highlands and slowly reintroduce the missing species of wildlife.
Trees For Life are greatly aided by volunteers who partake in work weeks based in areas of the Highlands such as the beautiful Glen Affric which contains the third largest remnant of the Caledonian Forest. The great news is, that since work began in Glen Affric in 1989, over 600,000 native trees have been planted and over 150,000 naturally regenerating Scots Pine seedlings and other native trees have been protected from overgrazing! Better still, you can help!
