PlayLIVE Events & Artist Management

About Me

PlayLIVE Events & Artist Management is working to get local bands noticed by a wider audience and bringing new music to the local area in the shape of excellent national & touring bands. We have also begun to manage up and coming local acts who are willing to work hard alongside us to get themselves heard locally & nationally, get reviewed by national music press and create interest from good music labels.
At the moment we are not taking on any bands for management as we are working hard to help the our first group of talented local bands, 'The Startover', 'Colt.44' and 'After The Ordeal'. We are currently working with these bands on a non-profit basis to help the bands to get exposure within the music press and booking them on good quality shows. Our services to these bands include personalised press kits, myspace design, gig booking, and frequently meeting up to discuss issues over a few pints! We do this because we love music and feel that a lot of bands don't get the exposure they deserve.
The Startover are a four-piece Pop-Punk / Alternative band from Gravesend who have already been causing a massive stir after only being on the scene for a short time. With 3 way lead vocal harmonies, twin guitar attack, and a tight rhythm section, along with crap jokes (that's jokes about actually taking a crap!) these guys are out to bring you a fun but intense live performance of the highest order!
Check out these lads now if you haven't already done so. You won't be dissapointed! Make sure you get to one of there upcoming shows and be ready to PARTY!!!
The Startover have just signed to Engineer Records! Expect a brand new EP this Summer!!!
Colt.44 are a talented 3 peice Hard Rock beast from Bexleyheath. Having been on the local scene for just over a year, they are now taking their live show across the country in support of their Brand New album 'One Horse Town'. They have recently signed a record deal with Casket Records and can count bands such as Panic Cell and Mendeed among their high profile label mates! Quality riffage and catchy Hard Rock tunes is their game; a sound that appeals to even the pickiest of music fans! Make sure you get to one of their shows soon, wou will not be dissapointed! Be sure to check them out across the country on one of their forthcoming tours!!!
After The Ordeal are the newest addition to our roster, and also one of the newest additions to the local music scene. With an appropriate mix of sung and screamed vocals, a huge guitar driven sound, slick bass-lines and tight as hell technical drumming, they are sure to make their mark on the local scene over the next few months. The intense live performance is something to behold, and they will want as many people as possible to be a part of the show! Their sound is definately their own but if you need comparisons, then think of a blend of Fightstar's beefy sound and early Funeral For A Friend vocal style with a bit of Finch and Thursday thrown in for good measure! They will be releasing their debut EP 'A Means To An End in May and will be hitting the road on their second set of UK Tours this summer!!!br

We are currently searching for a new venue to host our shows, so if you know a place that would be ideal then please get in touch. Better yet, if you run/own somewhere that is looking to host live music then let us know and we'll help you out!
A Brief History of PlayLIVE!
It all started when Matt and Gaz (of the now defunct band 'The Pressure') wanted to put on some local shows and invite some of the countries top up and coming bands to come and play locally. After a few phone calls, one 'meeting' and many beers, we bagged ourselves a fantastic venue for the summer, The Phoenix in Dartford. The outdoor stage meant it was a risk, but we were willing to take that risk and booked our first show for Saturday May 3rd 2008
We decided to put on an All Dayer, which meant a lot of work before and on the day. Somehow we managed to get 10 fantastic local and national bands to come down and play on what turned out to be a fantastic day of quality music, with many bands complementing the great organisation and the set-up. We learned a lot from our first show and agreed to carry on putting on shows locally and The Phoenix were only happy to have us back!
We'd like to thank the following bands for playing the show for us and generally not being too much trouble!!!
Local Legends 'Antikid', Southends Pop-Rock greats 'Kobe', the mighty 'Kenai' from Essex, the hardest working band i've ever met 'DissolvedIn', Essex nutters 'Never Means Maybe', Medways legendary Pop-Punk band 'One Day Elliot', the awesome 'Shadow Army' from Reading, the new kids on the Kent scene 'Fear For Romeo', the epic Post-Hardcore-Indie-Punk trailblazers 'HildaMay' and the quality (but unfortunately now defunct) 'All The Above' from Essex.
We continued to put on smaller evening shows at The Phoenix over the summer, working with some awesome bands that you can check out in our top friends, but unfortunately The Phoenix closed its doors for the last time on Oct 31st '08. We'd like to thank the Phoenix (Especially Chris!) for having us abuse their facilities and generally being a great bunch of guys to work with. Good luck with the future guys!

PlayLIVE Info for Bands
If you want to play a show with us then please complete the blogs. Local Bands are any bands within a 10 mile radius of either Bexleyheath or Dartford. Obviously, national acts will be any bands outside of this area.
We will be aiming to put on 2 local and 2 national acts for our gigs. This helps pull in a good crowd but at the same time, brings new music to the local area. We will not be putting on the same thing every time. We seperate our gigs between genres, i.e. Ska Nights, Hard Rock Nights, Metal Nights, Pop-Punk Nights, etc.
We pride ourselves on being organised with our shows and set-up. When you come to a PlayLIVE show, we want you to have a great time whether you are watching or playing. We do our best to organise our shows down to the smallest detail so that everything runs as smoothly as it possibly can. This isn't a half arsed attempt at putting on gigs, this is something we are hoping to build an excellent reputation with and with it, make the local music scene something special again! We can only do that with the help of the Bands, local and national and of course the fans who come to watch. So spread the word about our shows and help your local bands play some great shows with bigger, more established national acts and help them become the big acts!!!
