In the autumn of 2005, The Call’s debut recording ‘Push On’ was chosen for XFM London Unsigned resulting in the band winning a prime time slot on the Station’s Friday morning show. Not satisfied with one major radio station airing the lead track, the lads secured a live session on the Janice Long Show and as a result BBC Radio 2 play listed the full EP. Radio 1 also described them as “tunesmiths of the highest orderâ€. Locally the band were invited to play live in the studio for both BBC Radio York and BBC Radio Humberside. Most recently, they were featured as part of Radio 1’s “In New Music We Trust†show with Steve Lamacq.
Building on the success of the debut release with sales figures into the thousands, the band now offer up their second 4 track EP ‘Missing Pieces’. The maturing style of The Call lyrically and musically is clear in the latest release. With greater attention to detail the band embraced new recording techniques which have also spread to their exuberant live show.
The Call have performed as special guests for the likes of Morning Runner and Electric Soft Parade at sell out Barfly shows. They have been invited to appear at The 02 Wireless Festival appearing with The Who, The Flaming Lips and The Zutons, with further appearances including The Secret Garden & Wickerman Festivals playing alongside Lily Allen, Graham Coxon & The Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
Committed to creating music with melody, spark and depth, The Call are fast achieving their ambition of becoming a well established act.
