The Rabble Rousers

About Me

Our Debut CD, "New Hard Times," has been out since November 2008. It's available at cdbaby.com/rabblerousers music or on ITunes. *** THIS PROJECT WAS INSPIRED BY THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR UNION MOVEMENT. AS ARTISTS, WE REALIZED THE BEST WAY WE COULD GIVE SUPPORT WAS TO WRITE AND RECORD MUSIC THAT WOULD HELP GIVE THIS MOVEMENT A NEW SOUNDTRACK: . . . . . . . . . . . . . .SONGS ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES, RELEVANT TO MODERN TIMES. . . . . . . . . . . SONGS THAT FIRE PEOPLE UP FOR PICKET LINES, RALLIES AND SIMILAR EVENTS; SONGS THAT MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO STAND UP TOGETHER, FIGHT BACK AND SING ALONG. ***

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: The Rabble Rousers play in many configurations. *** In the U.S.: Bill Collins solo or Rabble Rousers Acoustic (Bill Collins, Gary "Chops" MacConnie, and sometimes Brian Kennedy). *** In Europe: Rabble Rousers Electric (Bill Collins, Elf, Andy Merck, Rainer "Termite" DeVaryo and sometimes Gary "Chops" MacConnie). The Rabble Rousers also include everyone who shows up and sings along.
Influences: It’s not traditional union folk music, nor is it solely Irish, Rock and Roll, Americana, or Punk but a genre that straddles and integrates all of those styles. If we had to name it we’d call it “Hard Folk.” *** For the CD, "New Hard Times," the plan was to record two albums - acoustic versions recorded in America and harder-edged more aggressive electric versions of the same songs recorded in Germany with a full band. *** As it turns out, we recorded the electric version in Germany but combined elements of both ideas. Instead of one punk rock album and one folk album, we ended up with something in the middle. An acoustic recording of the songs on "New Hard Times" is still being planned. *** And, as today’s political headlines and struggles evolve, more songs are being written to reflect day-to-day current events. There is already a new batch of songs written with more in the works.
