Paul is a 34 year old Scottish songwriter from just oustide of Glasgow, Scotland and is the bassist and main songwriter for Multinational Melodic Metallers Eden's Curse.
Paul's musical journey started at the tender age of 13 when he began as a drummer in a band with some school friends. A keen ear and bags of enthusiasim forced him to learn to play the guitar. Once he had found his way around a fretboard the song writing begun and he never looked back. A switch to bass guitar a couple of years later really caught his imagination and he has been playing bass for 17 years now.
Paul's musical career really began to take shape when out of the ashes of a local band he formed Cry Havoc with guitarist Graham McLeod. Many years of hard work in the studio and onstage paid off when the group inked their first record deal in 1997 with Wigan based AOR specialists Now & Then Records. Problems with the label led to the Cry Havoc debut being shelved and after a short break up the group reunited and finally released the record in 2002 through US independent Chavis Records. Some three years later they were picked up by Majestic Rock Records who re-issued the debut album in Europe and for the first time in Japan in September 2005.
Around the sametime Paul hooked up with Pink Cream 69 vocalist David Readman and played bass and co-wrote two songs "Don't Let It Slip Away" and "Gentle Touch" for his 2007 debut solo album via Frontiers Records , with the former being the lead single from the album accompanied by an excellent video. "This was a really proud moment for me, especially as I wrote the song about my wife. David and team did a great job with the song and the director really captured the whole vibe of the lyrics" commented Paul. Logue and Readman also worked on an album worth of demos under the moniker of Union Of Crowns, which may or may not see the light of day in the future.
In January 2006 Paul formed an international Melodic Metal band Eden's Curse with US based vocalist Michael Eden which features a well known crop of musicians from the UK and Germany. Having co-written 10 of the 12 songs on the debut album Paul was delighted to secure the services of his all time favourite Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Producer Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69 / Angra / House Of Lords / Joe Lynn Turner / Krokus) and travelled to his studio in August 2006 to complete the recording sessions. The band signed to German heavy weights AFM Records (Europe), Metal Mayhem (USA) and Spiritual Beast / Universal Music (Japan) and released their critically acclaimed debut record in August 2007.
During the Eden's Curse recording sessions Paul met and worked with vocalist Doogie White (Rainbow / Yngwie Malmsteen / Empire / Cornerstone). The two Scot's hit it off from the outset and Doogie approached Paul with a view to working together on songs. Paul has written four songs for Doogie's solo album which is in the final stages of the mixing process.
Whilst Eden's Curse will always remain Paul's primary focus he also had a hand in an old School AOR project being demoed under the name of Distant Stranger, with English guitarist Jay Parmar, Andreas Novak (Mind's Eye) and Dirk Bruinenberg (Elegy / David Readman) amongst others .
In October 2008 Eden's Curse made an unexpected yet triumphant return with their sophomore studio album The Second Coming which is receiving rave reviews the world over. Press heavy weights such as Kerrang!, Metal Hammer (Germany),Burrn! Magazine (Japan) and Classic Rock Magazine being amongst the publications lavishing praise on the group.
The band are focused on establishing the name Eden's Curse as a prominent feature on the live circuit and toured in May 2009 opening for Stratovarius and Firewind in the UK & Ireland. They later returned to the UK in August 2009 to headline the Sophie Lancaster Stage at the Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2009. Touring would not end their as the group returned again to the UK to Tour with Alestorm and The Rotted as well as making an appearance at the Hard Rock Hell III festival in Prestatyn in Wales.
The group are new in writing mode for album number 3 which they aim to have ready for release in Autum 2010.
