Hey everyone, its me Dave- I live in Gainesville Florida and pick the banjo. Living here in the heart of Central Florida and loving Bluegrass Music is like loving to Scuba Dive and living in Missouri- can be frustrating... I have been playing since I was 13, with mostly any musician who was willing to pay some attention to me, and as a result have had a chance to play with some great people and have learned a lot in the process. Right now, I am just trying to get back into the groove with my picking after this hand surgery thing- (I commented about it in my blog). It has been a frustrating row to hoe, but I think I am finally making making some headway. I like to think of myself as a great utility man in the band. I love to sing harmony, and can sing all parts including lead (while playing). I am a banjo picker that believes in the "Three T's" (Tuning, Timing and Taste), and as a result I get invited back to play more often than some banjo pickers. I am easy going, I am teachable, I dont have a giant ego, I have a long fuse, mature, and dependable-but mainly, I love the people and like to have fun. I am fortunate to have been able to play with lots of different bands over the years and play all diferent types of music it has truly made me a better musician and has allowed me to get my musical creativity out. I have branched out now and have started on the MANDOLIN and as a result I have a new surge of energy and excitement like you have when you were a kid rushing home after school to practice. My friends have been patient too- they allow me to pick and learn. My favorite player on the MANDOLIN is DAN TYMINSKI... I know hes not just a Mandolin picker....Im just saying, when he playes it, i love his style of playing... and everyone copies his style too, like the Old Legend Bill Monroe- he has his own style that people like to emulate.
