Sweet Soul X is my little ol' music project. Sometimes it sounds kinda like a classic rock radio station run by some punk rock kids high on cough syrup,at other times I come up with something pretty cool. I have been playing geetar for nigh on 20 years.(Sorry,got off on abit of a HeeHaw trip there) After spending 16 of those years pickin my ass & playing to the bedroom walls,I stopped worrying about "being good enough" and actually went out and played in public (thanx to my good buddy and partner in crime's urging--and close to 1/2 a bottle of whiskey and most of a pack of smokes,you know, "for courage"). Well,that was a friggin great experience,so I kept going on that ride for a while. Next thing ya know ,I'm in a sorta "band" (we never did find a drummer under retirement age that wasn't a complete fuckin freakshow,though we did have a bass player for about a month and a half). Well,holy Jesus- what a nightmare that turned into.It was fun to start with ,but lemme tell ya ,a person should always listen to their gut feelings.I didn't & next thing you know I'm paying for other peoples bad habits..... not cool. It did however get me invited to record in an actual professional studio...which somehow I ended up paying the whole shot for..but anyways,I learned quite alot there (some about recording ,some about life,some about don't get into a mess like this again).. After nearly going bankrupt,having cops following my car around continuosly from being overexposed to narcotics and the culture that surrounds them,and just too much BULLSHIT in general,I decided that I should find a better way of doing things. So............I scraped enough dough together for a Boss Micro BR ,a little (underline little),digital studio...................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ I used whatever knowledge I absorbed from my studio experience ,and whatever hard feelings I had for inspriation & started writing and recording my own stuff. I even started singing,which,I know doesn't sound all that shit-hot ,but whatever -ITS ROCK 'N' ROLL DAMMIT!!!Now , I have recorded quite a few songs with that little recorder.Some I think are good enough to share with the world,others I'm the only one who'll hear (and should probably erase) them. I also jam and record with some friends as the Aurora Starrs Explosion Its pretty damn good fun. Now we are workong on a new jam/practice/rehearsal/recording hangout. The mighty Micro Br is going to be retired and I'm entering the realm of computer recording -so god knows what kinda shit I'll get into next. Oh yeah and I also have some shit on CBC RADIO 3 Check it out too ,thanx for stoppin by ,and if you are looking for a crazy ass guitar player(NOT A SHREDDER) and your band is cool, drop me a line. (That doesn't mean that only drop me a line if you need a guitar player,I'm just floating that,you know,just to see)
