We are a Manchester-based theatre company, currently specialising in new writing for one-woman performance. Over the last four years we have toured our work throughout the UK, Ireland and as far as California, and taken three shows to the Edinburgh Fringe. From humour to chilling drama, we aim to inform, hold, surprise – and, above all, entertain.
From Spring 2008, we are touring two very contrasting shows. ‘ME AND MARLENE’ is a haunting and humorous look at the life and songs of Marlene Dietrich. ‘ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE’ tells the story of Enid Pringle, the doctor’s receptionist who makes an unexpected discovery – and her life is never the same again!
GlovesOff Productions also provide entertainment for after-dinner, corporate events and private parties. Post-show discussions are welcomed after performances, and we also offer Writing/Stagecraft workshops.

GlovesOff Productions are Patricia Hartshorne and Michael Elphick. They have been working together since 2000, writing and producing their own original shows including: 'OFF HER TROLLEY' - Buxton Fringe Comedy Award winner 2000, 'TALKING THROUGH MY HAT', 'LATE NIGHT CABARET', and 'A BIT IN THE AFTERNOON', which they took to Edinburgh Fringe in 2003. They returned to Edinburgh in 2005 with 'ME AND MARLENE', and again in 2007 with 'ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE', their current touring show.
They have also provided after-dinner entertainment for a variety of organisations including: Masonic Ladies, WI, Rotary/Inner Wheel, TLC, and NASUWT. In addition, for the past four years, every autumn, GlovesOff have entertained audiences at dinner-theatre venues in California
Optional extras for shows can include workshops, and after-show discussions. To compliment 'ME AND MARLENE' we offer 'Be Your Own Icon' - an opportunity for participants to explore their own ideas for biographical pieces.
We look at research methods, character development, theatre writing and technical stagecraft. Workshops are suitable for all age groups and can be tailored to suit specific audiences.
