About Me

I am a mom/songwriter. I have discovered over the past 5 years that these two jobs in no way, shape or form complement one another. And yet I am highly committed to them both. People ask me all the time if I am more inspired now that I am a mom. I just have to laugh. So far, I haven't been able to work the following into a song: sharpie ink on the hardwood floor, swallowing a dime, terrorizing the dogs with the Dora minivan, pinching incidents at pre-school - you get the picture. I love being a mom, but what I love about writing is that, for a short time, I get to take off that hat and put on my songwriting hat. I am learning how to tap into the part of me that is still creative, brooding and melancholy. I somehow feel "cooler". On the other hand, the chaotic "realness" of motherhood is a healthy balance for the intensely competitive, sometimes shallow, world of songwriting. So I guess what I'm saying is that this emotional whiplash is working for me! ..

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Honestly, I've met a lot of famous people and it usually just ends up being awkward. I want to make sure they know that I'm not just your average fan - I'm somehow cooler - please see Andy Gullahorn's blog on this topic - the one entitled "FAQ on the Road" - or something like that - it is SO funny!!!Mark and I recently met John Heffron - one of the winners of Last Comic Standing - at the Nashville Airport. He was so nice - gave us a CD. If you are into comedy, you MUST check this guy out - he's our favorite - right up there with Jim Gaffigan. Hmmmm......Maybe I'd like to meet Jim Gaffigan - nah, it'd probably be awkward!

My Blog

Blame It On The Stars

Since I didn't sign up for a Myspace Music account (what was I thinking??), I have to wait until one of my co-writers posts one of our songs on his or her myspace music sight so I can "add" it to my p...

Sports Analogy

First of all, I have to say that I cannot BELIEVE I'm about to make a sports analogy. I grew up with no appreciation for sports whatsoever. I'm a new convert - thanks mostly to my new-millenium-found ...

Where is Jesus' car?

So I was putting three and a half year old Sydney to bed the other night. She is very creative in her ploys to keep me in her bedroom (Mark calls her "The Negotiator). On this particular night she was...

Any Given Sunday, Baby, Any Given Sunday

I'm all the the time ranting to Mark about my NFL musings. I'll say something like "now, if WE can beat the Texans and THEY can beat the Jaguars, then why can't WE beat the Jaguars??" And he always an...

Those Titans

Well, we now have our second win of the season. Our second win in a row. And I couldn't be happier. But now comes the part where you see what a bad fan I am. Did you have those really dysfunctional re...

Old Friends

I hope you have those friends with whom you are able to pick right back up where you left off. This Fall, for me, has been about reconnecting with old friends. And it feels great. It's like pulling yo...

I couldn't be a single mom!!!

As I write this blog, Mark is on a plane on his way home from NYC. He has been gone for 6 days - 4 of which were spent hunting pheasants in South Dakota - the big redneck! Can you imagine waking up in...
