The Sunrise Special Care Center

Caring for the profoundly intellectually and physically disabled children a group of parents formed the center in 1988. The center cares for 30 children and youths. The center serves as a daycare center providing care from 6:45am to 3pm, giving mothers and caregivers (often grandparents) a deserved and welcome break from caring for a child with severe handicaps. The community served by the center is a largely disadvantaged one and often both parents are unemployed. Often the two balanced meals children receive at the center serve as their only meals for the day. In spite of limitations in funding children are given the support and attention they need to live their maximum potential, which although it might seem minute in terms of our own functioning is valuable to these children.(Non Profit Organization No. 008053)
