Hey guys. I've been letting this page rot for way too long, so I'm going to try to freshen shit up around here a bit. Gonna put up some new mixes, along with any other projects I've been working on. I'm up over at PopCultureShock.com now as their Senior Music Editor (even though I don't really edit much). But it means there's a few new music things in the work -- podcasts, radio-style shows, interviews and the like -- so hopefully I'll have some more stuff to prop over there soon.
In the meantime, always remember, that Bridge & Causeway thing in my name is there for a reason, and you can check the site right here for more music goodness to waste your time with.
The Mixes
Infinite Ways : A radio-show style mix made as a test for a future PopCultureShock streaming radio show. Light on the mixing, heavy on good tunes. Think "future roots".
--
Keeping It Up : Man, this is a bizarre mix. It started as a live recording of a set I played at the PopCultureShock.com party in Manhattan a couple months back, then my computer corrupted the file, so a couple other bits were cut in at home to fill the gaps. In the end, you’ve just got a really eclectic set. Some hip-hop, some randomness, a touch of the mainstream, a lot of funking it up, all with a healthy dose of ADD. All vinyl, as always. So if you’re cruising the internet because you have no idea what the hell you want to hear today, maybe there’s a little something in the randomness here for you.

Fire Escapes at Midnight : A downtempo set, pretty chilled out, pretty random. Some old school and alternative (but not goofy) hip-hop, along with a bunch of stuff on your Plug Research/Sound In Color/Stones Throw/Warp tip.
--
Live @ Shebeen : Just an old live set I recorded from Shebeen, in NYC (202 Mott Street). Captured on an old MiniDisc player, so don't expect the sound quality to move mountains (I think we might be talking mono here, people), but there were some nice blends and good tunes. Another chill-out downtempo-meets-hip-hop set from another lovely night in NYC.

The Jet Set Radio 3 Soundtrack : From a year or two back, this was an uptempo electronica set recorded while the classic Dreamcast graffiti game Jet Grind Radio looped its demo screen in the background -- a bunch of hip young Tokyo cartoon kids dancing in bright colors wearing oversized headphones. God, I loved that game. So I muted the soundtrack and spun a new one in honor (granted, focusing more on the electronica aspect than the more ecclectic aspects of the game's soundtrack -- the Beastie Boys's now defunct Grand Royal records put together the soundtrack for the game's Xbox sequel, so hey, go figure). A little dated now, but still good to trance out to at 4am while playing some video games.
Me:
Hi. I'm Dylan Garret, part-time DJ, part-time musician, full-time vagabond who still makes imitation-designer handbags in a basement on the Bowery in NYC to “keep it realâ€. I help run a little music-whatever called Bridge & Causeway . It's got a lot of mixes and MP3s and radio show style stuff, enough to keep your pods casting for days without ever having to hear the same song twice. I mostly use MySpace for music, even though I never thought to set up a music account, but I'm always down to network with positive people. --
Let's try this map thing out, shall we?
