About Me

BIOGRAPHY

SunFireSouls play their own interpretation of reggae music, inspired by the late seventies clash of punks and rastas in the UK and contemporary Pacific roots and groove music. Sometimes energetically rockin' out, sometimes acousticly chilling out, The Souls always bring a positive vibe to the party.
Started as sort of a joke as 'Pimp Daddyz' in Hilversum, Holland in summer 2002 by two Dutchies Jeroen (vocals/guitar), Bas (drums) and Truck (bass) from England, the name was changed to SunFireSouls in the beginning of 2005 to better fit the positive message and more serious attitude. A year later second guitarist Biscuit, also from Hilversum, joined the line-up to beef up the live shows. Also SFS went into the vintage Dureco studios with trusty producer Valentino to record the official 5-track debut EP 'RISE', which was independently released early May 2006.
After a year of supporting bigger acts from the international scene, like Slightly Stoopid, Xavier Rudd, Jaya the Cat, The Beautiful Girls and The Black Seeds, in respected Dutch venues like Paradiso, Melkweg, Paard and P60, touring the north of France, and a increasing following in the surf- and snowboardworld, SFS retreated into a basement in The Hague late summer 2007 to work on a follow up of 'Rise' with engineer Oscar Bor and part-time producer/guru Geoff Lagedac from Jaya the Cat.
'Turn Your Radio On' is the final 8 track result and saw its release in November '07 with a big party in the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam, after which SFS went expanding the horizons with a succesful tour in Australia and New Zealand in the southern hemisphere's summer - supporting Rogerthat and Rob Sawyer. This amazing adventure brought the band to the legendary Esplanade Hotel in Melbourne's St Kilda and shows in Sydney, Tasmania and Wellington, NZ and got them even played on Triple J Radio's Roots n All show.
Summer 2008 saw the band going back in Amsterdam, for a string of shows on European summerfestivals and beaches and further promoting Turn Your Radio On. At the same time the line-up was taking new forms with one the founding members, drummer Bas leaving the gang, together with guitarist Biscuit. The current line-up exist of original members Jeroen and Truck joined by now full members Miggel and Olly, plus a new drummer Novandi. At the moment the group is working on new material and a extensive live set.
