Jason Guitarstring

After years of touring and recording with Michigan’s pop-punk workhorse, South Bay Bessie, Jason felt that it was time to slow down and see what else life had in store for him. With a new found clarity he began to focus on his family and going to school. As much as he tried to put music on the back burner, a song inside him was welling up.What began as Jason singing songs of faith, hope, and love at home in Flint, Michigan quickly turned into shows in basements, coffee shops, bars, churches, and punk rock clubs across the his home state. Jason’s shows mix the energy of punk rock with the heart and soul of American folk music.In 2005, Jason decided to start a small short-run record label called Moth and Rust Music. His love for music and people gave him a desire to release his own music and create community with the people he met along the way. So far Moth and Rust has released Jason’s 4 song e.p. “This Basement Sanctuary” and an 11 song cassette entitled, “Unfinished Work”. He is currently in the studio working on his debut full length which is due sometime in this lifetime. Jason has also created a video series called "The Green Couch" which is a month long journey of creative worship(www.youtube.com/jguitarstring).Besides playing shows, writing songs, and making records, Jason isn’t too worried about the future of his musical career. “I’m just using the passions and gifts I’ve been given to do what I love and I am making some new friends along the way”, says Jason. He’s taking the advice that he gives the world in “A Love Song in Four Chords or Less”; “Play the cards you’re dealt. Learn to love. Put one foot in front of the other”.
