In 1997, Brooks Rongstad began experimenting with beatless, droning, textured music to become lost in. His first appearance was on the Convergent Evolution compliation released by GreenHouseMusic, which he co-founded with Nathan Larson and James Coplin. Echoes in the Emptiness, the first Exuviae full length, was released shortly after-also on the GreenHouseMusic label. When the label disbanded some years later, Brooks was approached by Vir Unis of the Atmoworks label to release his follow-up full length, Settling Density-a sort of "sister album" to Echoes. Shortly after, a third full length album, Response, was also released by Atmoworks. It was at this time that Brooks decided to pursue other interests for a while, both musical and non-musical.
2008 proudly sees the return of Exuviae to recording and releasing music of various styles, in various mediums. Brooks has also recently launched a new noise-based net.label www.noisekoncept.com
