About Me

Salut! Delighted to make your acquaintance. An informal bio: Pamela Andrews (B.Mus. (Hons), A.Mus.A, Dip.Mus.) was born and raised in Launceston, Tasmania, and commenced classical vocal study under Sharyn Martin in 2002. Pamela completed a Diploma of Music in 2004, an Associate of Music Diploma (AMEB) in 2006, a Bachelor of Music in 2007, and a Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2008, all of which were completed studying under Marilyn Smith at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music. Pamela has received numerous prizes and awards in eisteddfods around Tasmania, including the City of Launceston Aria Award (2009, 2007), the DJ Mazda Operatic Aria Award (Hobart, 2007) and the Enid Spencer McDougall Encouragement Award (Hobart, 2007). Pamela was nominated for the Director's Prize at the Conservatorium in 2007, and has appeared as a soloist for the Derwent Symphony Orchestra, IHOS Music Theatre & Opera, Hobart Orpheus Choir, Tasmania University Musical Society, and the City of Launceston Carols by Candlelight. In November, 2007, Pamela premiered the role of “Paquita Delpratt” in Joe Bugden's chamber opera, The Call of Aurora. Pamela is currently studying with Jane Edwards, and hopes to study a post-graduate Diploma of Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2010.
At the red of the dawn
O'er the dew-spangled lawn
Where I meet the new day like a kiss...

Here's a link to my real MySpace... Arnold J. Rimmer, BSc, Ssc
I'm a proud soprano of the super-funky, Hobart-based Southern Gospel Choir (nominated for an ARIA in 2005 for their debut release, Great Day), directed by Andrew Legg, and the soprano member of the Consorte di Interroti Sospiri.
The songs featured on this page are from my recitals performed at the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music, and the copyright belongs to the University for the recordings. I like to upload tracks to share my progress with others, and would like to stress that I'm not, in any way, attempting to infringe the copyright!
Please note: I don't mind people leaving me comments with moderately-sized pictures of themselves in them, or a little spiel about an upcoming song/album release - whatever - but I'm getting really pissed off with people who keep leaving me notes which are purely advertising gimmicks. What am I, a BILLBOARD? Bugger off. I'll delete them. And then I'll delete you. Just WATCH me exercise that soprano temper!
Please watch this video and support my favourite people in the whole wide world: the Southern Gospel Choir!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Pamela Andrews (some form of soprano: those who think I'm a coloratura mezzo-soprano, please join the kids on the stage with placards; those who are insistent that I will turn out to be a dramatic soprano, please take a seat in the waiting-room; and, those who believe that I'm a lyric soprano, please join the end of the ever-growing queue around the corner). As for accompanying artists, well; I use a few really fabulous accompanists, but my FAVOURITES are: Karen Smithies, Dr Shirley Trembath, Michael Curtain and Angela Brinkhoff.

Last.FM is brilliant, I highly recommend it.
Influences: I've found some really inspiring and super-friendly musicians, right here on MySpace! Browse my friends list to get an idea of who I'm into.
Sounds Like: A young mezzo-soprano with a lot of top end. Or do I sound like a really young dramatic soprano? ... Or do I sound like the beginnings of a lyric soprano? Hmmm... Maybe I'll turn out to be a baritone!
